Well, we are down to the last week. Most of the planning is done. The dates and places we will be working are set, the programs have been planned, the hotel reservations made and the tickets purchased. Seemingly, all is ready. We are about 2/3 packed, including three bags of humanitarian aid that we will carry with us. This week we will finish packing, arrange for our mail and bills to be handled while we are gone, and finish up a myriad of last minute details. On Sunday we will take the truck (loaded) to Leesburg where it will stay with our daughter and her family until we return.
Typically, about this time we start receiving e-mails from our friends in Eastern Europe asking if we can do this or that (extra). We have already received some of those and may get more. It is these last minute requests that often take our schedule from packed to ridiculous! We are softies; we can't say no. Somehow it always seems to work out, proving once again that God is in control.
We are beginning to get wound up and excited. We know that surprises await, but we have no idea what they might be. We have had so many divine appointments over the years that we have come to expect them to happen. We never know what they might be. Some lead us through new doors of opportunity; others go nowhere at all and we are left to wonder what the purpose was. Maybe someday we will learn. In the meantime, we know the Lord is leading us so we will simply keep doing what He puts in front of us to do. We trust that He knows what He is doing and how best to use us. That is what we said we wanted; for Him to use us and now He has given us the desires of our heart!
